Belief is such an all encompassing word and holds a myriad of meanings for so many beings on our planet. Is it the belief in survival - the struggle to exist everyday - to find food, shelter and the will to survive on a day-to-day basis? For some, a day is all they can be sure of - a minute more, another breath, a last kiss... For others, it is the extension in the lap of luxury - the belief that one can become the all mighty gift to mankind, to which the world will bow and Kowtow. The belief that one more Bugatti, one more condo, another dollar to place alongside the millions one squanders on excess collections, will somehow bring clarity and greater worth to one's life. In my book, 'belief' is the will and determination to continue against the odds - to be the best version of a human being, one can possibly be. Yes, we make mistakes. Yes, they can be entirely, embarrassing and can make you feel worthless - and in the eyes of others you consider to be more successful - are thus happier and more likeable. You are in charge of you, your destiny and the direction you life turns. The values and worth you attach to your being and to that of others, is only a view - a perception of others from your balcony. It does not matter the meaning you place on 'belief' - it does not have to equal another's perception. It just has to bring you belief in 'self' - that you can be more than you are today; that you are worthy of both success and failure - for both are important on the road to growth and understanding. ...And above all else, belief in 'self' will give you the inner strength, grit and stubbornness to say, |
