None of us are void of making the dreaded mistake and so many times, we beat ourselves up about it.  Our expectations of what we think we should achieve or the expectations of what we feel society tells us we should achieve, play a huge part in perceiving what we do, as a mistake in the eyes of others.

Yet, this is truly what makes us human and should not be something we severely frown upon or teach our children that to 'err should be avoided at all costs.  It is from mistakes that we learn.  They allow us to take new steps forward, in the name of progress.  Had mistakes never been made througout history, discoveries such as penicillin might not exist.

We need to keep a sensible head around the act of committing a mistake, which if far different from committing a wrong doing.  Such acts are condemned as they go against the grains of humanity, decency and due care of others.  To forgive such acts is often more difficult, because it defies belief - given that it goes against the grain of social norms and expectations.

In all cases, learning to forgive requires an understanding that we are not perfect and that no matter how hard we try never to make a mistake, it is inevitable.  Through the act of understanding this, we can exhibit true patience and understanding for others - as we are not quick to judge and we do not follow down the trail of condemnation or look down upon others, because we feel more superior and less fallible. Balance of reaction and humility ensures us of sound decisions, and enable us to lead helpful, constructive and productive lives filled with purpose, love and pleasure for all.
