Doing work is all well and good, but remembering to spend time with family when it is not just a national holiday is far more important than going through the motions of what is culturally expected. Giving when you don't have to; doing things for others when it is least expected; giving freely love and attention to others whom are struggling through their life journey, is by far the most important and valuable gestures one can offer. Whether family and friends are near or far, at home or across seas, are your blood or adopted blood relations - the gestures of giving without the expectation of reciprocity enable us to make sense of earthly journeys. And at some point in one's life, when least you expect, when the thorns of life scratch too harshly - a special person will gladly hold your burdens, so you can rest and gather your strength.
