Mentor Immortalis - is a magnificently-carved walking stick whose appearance resembles that of a timelessly-aged, wise old man. As the character's name denotes, Immortalis mentors the main character – Ethan in achieving his destiny.

Master Lim - Old Chinaman is a defining character in The Parchment - particularly coming into book 2, where he divulges knowledge of the magical parchment and what it means for Ethan Hobbs to acquire it.

Queen of Hearts (Queeny) – is a thin, wiry armed playing card that was originally the possession of Lord Van der Swift during the war. Magically, this lively playing card happens to take on the appearance & job of the hotel's door card, where Ethan and Mrs. Hobbs happen to be staying.

Bare-Bottomed Forest Creatures - curious little forest creatures that possess mysterious natural healing power.
Lord Van der Swift – is the thorn (Nemesis) in Ethan's side throughout the journey of The Parchment Series. This nemesis materialises as a wealthy, red-haired, bearded Gentleman who was the original owner of the hotel during WWII.

Ethan Hobbs - is a bright, inquisitive, inventive and athletic Australian boy of eleven years who happens to find an unusual stick on his neighbour's roof. He is on his way to Scotland to sit an entrance exam for 'Locklorde Catholic School for Gifted Youngsters', when a stick magically comes to life and begins to follow him everywhere.
With the pushy help of this magical stick - 'Mentor Imortalis', Ethan none too soon learns that he is the chosen Prophet of Time and Destiny; of which it is said only he can restore the delicate balance that exists between both. If he does not, he stands to lose a lot more than he could ever imagine. 
Mrs. Hobbs - is a small, finely-built, motherly-figured woman who is extremely protective over her 11 year old son. She is an intensely, proud Australian who works in linguistics and has a passion for discovering dead Asian languages.
